Yahoo’s email service, which they purchased from Four11 in 1997, is still considered to be the most popular email program in America.
In March of 2005 Yahoo celebrated it’s 10 year anniversary by giving away free Baskin Robins ice cream coupons to all of their users.
In 2006 Yahoo’s image search gained criticism for displaying sexually explicit images in their results, even when the SafeSearch was on. Less than a year later the image search feature was shut down and replaced with Yahoo’s recently acquired Flickr photo sharing community.
Yahoo appeared in the Internet in 1994, when Jerry Young and David Philo were studying in the University of Stanford.

"We are highly enthusiastic about the potential of this platform," said Jay Smith, President, Cox Newspapers. "We're blown away by how Yahoo! is working with intensity and commitment to create a collaborative and very efficient platform that we expect will have a significant impact on our sales capabilities. This is a turning point for our industry. And, we are equally excited about the tremendous value Yahoo! sees in our great local newspaper content, which is getting broader exposure nationally on some of Yahoo!'s most popular sites."
Ray Miles, network coordinator at the British school said: “These adult images were not entirely what the teacher at the school was hoping to see when doing some research on the World Wide Web, and it is a good job he brought it to our attention before the senior school was let loose on this project! Needless to say we have banned the students from accessing Yahoo! until further notice!”
